Want something fun for your kids to do during spring break? Have them join our maker Nicole from Blueprint on March 12 from 10:30am -12pm to explore cyanotype process. Perfect for ages 7+

A cyanotype kids class is a fun and interactive workshop where children can explore the magic of photography and printmaking using the sun! Cyanotype is an old photographic printing process that creates beautiful blue and white images by exposing treated paper or fabric to UV light.

Class Overview

Introduction to Cyanotype: Kids learn about the history of cyanotype, how it works, and why the sun plays a key role in the process.

Choosing Objects: Children collect leaves, flowers, lace, or even small toys to create their designs.

Coating the Paper (Optional): In some classes, kids may help apply the special cyanotype solution to paper or fabric. If using pre-treated materials, they jump right into designing.

Arranging Designs: Kids place their objects onto the prepared surface, creating unique patterns and images.

Sun Exposure: The artwork is placed outside in the sunlight for a few minutes, allowing the UV rays to develop the print.

Water Rinse: After exposure, kids rinse their prints in water, revealing the final deep blue and white designs.

Drying & Take-Home Artwork: Once dry, children have a one-of-a-kind cyanotype print to take home and share!
